Comics and graphic novels are of increasing importance for the work of the Goethe-Institutes. German artists are invited to convey German culture worldwide through exhibitions, lectures and workshops. An extensive travelling exhibition about the German comics scene is touring through the Institutes and a website informs users about current comics trends in the German-speaking countries. The Goethe-Institutes have long recognized the potential of graphic literature as a connecting element and make use of it for unusual projects. The Comic Salon is showcasing three extraordinary initiatives from Moscow, Cairo and Jakarta.
