The Comic Artist Seminar has taken place in Erlangen every year since 1986 and is therefore one of the oldest artist seminars in the comics field. Organized by the agency Contours from Hamburg in cooperation with the Cultural Projects Office of the City of Erlangen, it offers participants, who must already have a certain drawing expertise, the possibility of finalizing a story they have prepared in advance under the tutelage of well-known comics artists. The participants are informed of the respective topic a few weeks before the seminar, and the results are presented in an exhibition at the next Comic Salon. This often offers the possibility of casting a glance at future comics careers in the making, since artists such as Isabel Kreitz, Uli Oesterle, Thomas von Kummant, Harm Bengen and Nicolas Mahler have taken part in the seminar in the past.

The Comic Artist Seminar is supported by the Cultural Promotion Office of the City of Erlangen.
