The “Max und Moritz“-Awards, the most important prizes for graphic literature in the German-speaking countries will be given out for the 15th time this year during the 15th Erlangen International Comic Salon. Twenty-five titles were nominated for the “Max und Moritz”-Awards 2012 by the jury and the audience. All but one of the award winners will be announced on 8 June 2012 during the “Max und Moritz” Gala. The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award is: Lorenzo Mattotti. The Italian artist’s genre-crossing body of work is one of the most influential and versatile in comics today.
Further awards will be given out in the categories “Best German Comic”, “Best International Comic”, “Best Comic-Strip”, “Best German Comics Artist”, “Best Student Comics Publication” and “Best Children’s Comic”. This year’s “Max und Moritz” Gala will be hosted by Hella von Sinnen and Christian Gasser.
